2010? Desperate for ideas!
Hi! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I'm having a real hard time coming up with a lineup for 2011 that will inspire promoters to purchase the show and fans to buy tickets. We've bandied about lots of names and all are great middle acts... Kajagoogoo, Alphaville, China Crisis, are all still alive in our minds. I had a great conversation with Mike Peters of The Alarm a week ago after running into him in September here. He'd love to do it and i can envision putting together a more rock-oriented show around them rather than the more new wave-y ones of past but I'm still stuck trying to put a strong bill around them. The problem is finding acts of that era who have not been playing around the states on a regular basis or preferably someone who has not toured in a decade or two. I'd love to have a line-up together before Christmas. Keep the ideas coming!

Tour ideas...
Rick,
I truly appreciate the efforts you have gone through to put these shows together the last couple of years. We've had a good sized group at the last couple in Los Angeles and have had a really great time. So, thank you so much!!!
I can only guess that putting together these bills are a logistical feat..... I have given some thought to bands I think would play and draw, and might be affordable::::
Alphaville (on Forever Young & Big in Japan alone...they/Marian loves America and I think would jump for a touring opportunity)
OMD (the duo +; might be tough to get)
Men Without Hats (seems like a matter of time before they come back out)
The Alarm/Mike Peters (Mike is always willing to tour, great self-promoter and has the goods to deliver live)
Marc Almond/Soft Cell
Tears For Fears (for a headliner, tough to get, might be expensive)
Kim Wilde (still a babe, pulls the European audience)
Adam Ant
Billy Idol (headliner?...great showman)
Bow Wow Wow
The Call
Devo
The Romantics
Sparks (might be hard to get for a nostalgia act; forward looking band)
Thomas Dolby (might be hard to get for a nostalgia act; forward looking act)
Pete Shelley (solo)
Colin Hay/Men at Work
Stan Ridgway/Wall of Voodoo
Pete Shelley (solo)
Bangles (still a great live act after all these years)
Go-Go's
Sigue Sigue Sputnik?
Tony Hadley/Spandau
Danny Elfman???? Oingo??? (Any way in hell?)
Tom Bailey (it would be a miracle)
Psuedo Echo (Brian...)
INXS (with JD...possible headliner?? sounds expensive)
Yaz (another chance for Alison & Vince to dust off the set)
Los Lobos (not a great fit, but could do well withe a rock line-up)
X (good rock-line-up)
Camper Van Beethoven/Cracker (seems "gettable" - good live act)
...just my 2 cents...
Hope you're well and best of luck! Tom

Re: 2010? Desperate for ideas!
Personally, if you get ABC every year, I will ALWAYS attend, same with Human League, they were fantastic.
Here are the acts from the posted list I would pay to see, you've got to have big enough names to pull, and perhaps fewer acts with longer sets. Cutting Crew was really weird and did not belong last year, skipped that part of the show entirely. I think it's critical to get bigger names to have them play some of their new stuff, people are receptive to it and don't necessarily only want to hear the hits. Also please get full bands, zero interest in Belinda Carlisle solo, but I would have loved to see the Go-Go's. Mike Score phoned it in on Flock of Seagulls, that was just sad. Three big acts, I would pay if they were worth it.
OMD
The Alarm
Tears For Fears
Adam Ant
Devo
The Romantics
Sparks
Thomas Dolby
Stan Ridgway
Bangles
Go-Go's
Spandau Ballet
Yaz
The Woodentops

Regeneration Tour 2010
I have been to the last 2 shows here in Las Vegas! Looking forward to attending a show in 2010! Please let's get the ball rolling. I have to buy tickets for 50 people alone! I have seen so many good acts posted by members...
Spandau Ballet
Yaz
Ultravox
Altered Images
The Fixx (Even though they were here 2 years ago)
ABC (again, always)
The Human League (again, always, they put on a great show)
Adam Ant
Thomas Dolby
Bow Wow Wow
Just please leave Belinda Carlisle out. I wasn't impressed with her solo career. However, with the Go-Go's, that would be good.
Please, please get the concert together for 2010!

Re: 2010? Desperate for ideas!
I had posted this in another thread, but Go West, Roxette, and The Outfield would be awesome on this tour.

Suggestions For Next Tour
Whenever you're able to get a tour together that will be coming back out to Las Vegas, I thought Roddy Frame, whether he goes by his name or as Aztec Camera, would be great, and I would probably kill to see Blancmange! Thanks Rick.
